The Stories Waiting Between the Lines

There’s something wonderfully mysterious about stories.

Sometimes they show up loudly—with a character, a setting, and an entire plot appearing in your imagination all at once. Which is a bit overwhelming to me. Other times, they arrive quietly.

A single sentence.

A question.

A memory.

A tiny what if? 🤔

And somehow, that small spark becomes the beginning of something much bigger.

This week, I’ve been thinking about all the stories that exist before they’re ever written down—the ones living quietly in our imaginations, waiting for the right moment to be discovered.

From the Writer’s Desk ✍🏾

My writing journey lately has been filled with ideas, possibilities, and those little moments when a story begins to reveal itself.

I'm continuing to explore characters and imagine the worlds they inhabit. Sometimes writing means filling pages quickly, and sometimes it means sitting with an idea long enough to understand what it wants to become.

I’m learning to appreciate both parts of the process.

Not every writing day has to produce a finished chapter.

Sometimes progress looks like:

Developing a character a little more deeply.

Writing down a new idea before it disappears.

Revisiting a scene that isn’t quite working yet.

Or simply reminding yourself why you fell in love with storytelling in the first place.

Every word matters—even the ones we eventually rewrite.

Let's Talk About Books 📖

Here’s something I’ve always loved about reading:

Sometimes the best part of a book isn't what the author tells us. It's what we imagine for ourselves.

The spaces between the lines give readers room to wonder.

What happened after the ending?

What would this character do five years later?

What story might be happening just outside the pages?

A truly memorable book can continue in our imagination long after we've reached the final chapter.

And maybe that's part of the magic of being a reader.

We don't just receive stories.

We participate in them.

We bring our own memories, hopes, experiences, and imaginations to every page we read. The same book can mean something completely different to two different people—and that’s what makes discussing books so much fun.

Maybe there are stories waiting inside all of us.

Stories about where we've been.

Stories about where we're going.

Stories we haven't fully understood yet.

And perhaps we don't always have to know the entire story before we begin.

Sometimes all we need is one idea.

One character.

One sentence.

One what if?

And from there, we turn the page.
